One of my hobbies, which I have begun to turn into something professional, is photography.
I started taking photos roughly three years ago, with an old digital camera that had a very low resolution and no zoom function. Gradually, I got interested in the subject of photography and bought myself a better digital camera, a Jenoptik Easy Shot. It's a point-and-shoot camera and I don't own any fancy lenses or filters, but it's enough for me and is doing its job well.
CATEGORIES & SUB-GALLERIES
::: Waterscapes :::
What I love to shoot most are waterscapes, especially seascapes. There's so much force behind the waves sometimes while at other times the ocean looks like a calm colourful plain. Being at the beach has always evoked special feelings inside of me: calmness, thougtfulness, humbleness, delight, cheerfulness and admiration. These feelings I strive to convey through my waterscape photos, not only taken of the sea, but also of rivers and waterfalls.
To indulge in a lot of waterscapes, why not buy yourself a whole calendar full of them, found here...
::: Landscapes :::
I have had the luck to grow up in Germany and now live in Sri Lanka, two countries with landscapes as different as can be. There aren't many German landscape shots of sufficient quality due to my old camera's deficiencies. However, I'm taking full advantage of the varied landscapes that can be found on this beautiful island. Mountainscapes, paddy field terraces, lush green valleys, beaches - there's something strikingly beautiful about all of these sceneries and motives abound.

::: Skyscapes :::
Skies have always been fascinating to humans, right throughout our earliest existance up until now. We associate the sky with Heaven, with weather phenomenons and with dreams and everything else far out of reach. I believe we should stop and take a moment to look up into the sky every once in a while, and behold with our own eyes how magnificent and ever different it can be. Sunsets especially hold a big fascination to them, as well as cloud patterns of all sorts.

::: Flora :::
Flowers & plants are ideal motives for photography because they don't move, they are incredibly colourful, come in all shapes and sizes and have an instant appeal to the viewer. Each photographer has their own way of portraying flowers and capturing plants, and for my part, these are the motives I shoot the most.
Flowers & plants are perfect to gift somebody dear as a print or to send as a beautiful postcard...
::: Fauna :::
As with the plants, animals are fascinating to look at though more difficult to capture well. Whether small or big, domesticated or wild, they make for a great feature in a portfolio or gallery.

::: Conceptual :::
This category features every kind of photo with a special message or hidden meaning, as the title implies. Motives vary from architecture to nature shots, from scyscapes to more abstract subjects.
There might just be something worth buying here if you like conceptual photography...
::: Experiments :::
Ever since recently, I have started experimenting a lot, not only with the way I take pictures but also with the way I edit and post-process them. It's ever so astonishing to see how photos change and stand out in effects such as black&white, sepia and colour inversion, and with the right cropping and framing as well as some tricks and tweaks!
If you are more into something unique and modern with a surprising edge and refreshing look, why don't you consider buying some experimental postcards or prints... |
